The Golden Valley Light railway

A 2ft (610mm) Narrow Gauge Railway in Derbyshire

Lister 10994

Lister 10994 was delivered new in 1939 to Vulcanised Fibre Ltd, Shalford, Surrey and was originally fitted with a petrol engine. Not much history is available for it until it ended up at the North Sea Camp Prison Railway where it was one of 6 Listers used to run the prison railway. Operations ended there sometime in the 1970's, but not much is known about the railway as it was somewhat out of view to most members of the public, unless you were imprisoned there!

The loco was purchased at auction in 2005, when most of the prison railway equipment was disposed of. By that time it had lain there unused for about 30 years. The loco has been fitted with a Lister SR2 diesel engine from a wood yard in the North East, similar to that fitted to many Lister rail trucks.
