A 2ft (610mm) Narrow Gauge Railway in Derbyshire

Lister 3742/31

This very early "R" type railtruck, fitted with a JAP petrol engine, was completed on 28th February 1931 and delivered to CP Hunter at Cosham Airport in Hampshire. As built, it was 20ins gauge.

After changing hands several times, and regauging to 2ft, it ended its working days at Cwt-y-Bugail slate quarry in North Wales.

It had a number of private owners before being purchased by a member of the GVLR. Secure on-site accommodation at the GVLR, being at a premium, the member stored it in his mother's garage for over a decade. A house sale saw the loco, finally arrive at the railway in 2005.
